Prof. Musa Dankyau elected Bingham varsity DVC

The Governing Council of Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State, has ratified the recent election of Prof. Musa Dankyau by the Senate of the university, as Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) of the university.
Daburi Misal, Director of Public Affairs of the University, in a statement, on Thursday, indicated that Prof. Dankyau was elected based on his qualifications, experiences and other track records that are crucial in discharging the responsibilities of a DVC.
He disclosed that Prof. Dankyau, until his appointment as DVC was the Provost of the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences in Jos Campus of the university, and he brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role, having served in various other capacities.
He also described Prof. Dankyau as a distinguished medical professional, having graduated from the University of Jos with an MBBS degree in 1994. “He holds the prestigious title of Fellow of the West African College of Physicians in the Faculty of Family Medicine obtained in 2000.
He added: “With a career spanning over 30 years, Prof. Dankyau has been actively involved in clinical service provision, health management, and medical education. He holds the position of Professor of Family Medicine in Bingham University College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, and also serves as an Honorary Chief Consultant Physician at the Bingham University Teaching Hospital.

“He has held various leadership positions within the university, including Head of Department, Director of Training, Dean Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Deputy Provost, and Provost of the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences.”
Misal maintained that Prof. Dankyaus academic interests are diverse, encompassing family medicine, primary health care, behavioral medicine, healthcare management, medical education, reproductive health, and HIV.
“He is a prolific author having published over 45 peer-reviewed articles and presented numerous conference papers. Additionally, he has supervised a significant number of Family Medicine Fellowship Casebooks, Fellowship dissertations, Master dissertations and undergraduate projects,” Misal noted.
He said the school wished him a very fruitful tenure as the DVC of the school.
