Oprah's thoughts on weight-loss aids

In September, Oprah subtly dissed people, particularly celebrities, who rely on pills to lose weight.

The businesswoman was in an interview where she opened up about struggling with weight loss her entire career.

According to Page Six, the media personality disclosed that she once almost fell onto the bandwagon and started using the pills but changed her mind.

"When I first started hearing about the weight loss pills, at the same time I was going through knee surgery, and I felt, ‘I’ve got to do this on my own.’ Because if I take the pill, that’s the easy way out,” she explained.

However, the mogul has now made a u-turn on her earlier stance, admitting to using meds to shed a few kilograms.

Oprah explains her weight loss

In an interview with People, she said that while initially did not believe in weight loss pills, she changed her mind during a taped panel conversation with weight loss experts and clinicians called The State of Weight.

The 69-year-old realised that, given her body type, exercise alone would not fix the issue, no matter how much effort she put into it.

"I had the biggest aha, along with many people in that audience. I realised I’d been blaming myself all these years for being overweight, and I have a predisposition that no amount of willpower is going to control," she told People.
"Obesity is a disease. It’s not about willpower — it's about the brain," she added.

After that episode, Oprah says she visited her doctor, who prescribed the meds.

"I now use it as I feel I need it, as a tool to manage, not yo-yoing."

She added that she sees it as a viable option to stay healthy at her age.

"The fact that there's a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for. I’m absolutely done with the shaming from other people and particularly myself."

That being said, the star disclosed that she supplements the meds with diet and exercise.

Oprah Winfrey's transformation

Oprah recently left netizens in awe after rocking a designer gown for the Colour Purple movie.

From the viral pictures, the 69-year-old looked slimmer in her fitting Dolce & Gobanna purple gown as she posed for photos on the red carpet.

While her outfit was stunning, fans were more impressed by her glow-up.
