Dr. Vincent Paul, a distinguished academic from Nasarawa State University, delivered a compelling keynote address at the Nzeh Mada Festival 2024, emphasizing the critical importance of entrepreneurship and skill acquisition in alleviating poverty within society.
Addressing a diverse audience of dignitaries, community leaders, and youths at the Kenneibeh Event Centre, Garaku, yesterday, Dr. Vincent Paul underscored the need for individuals to harness their inherent skills and talents to create opportunities for themselves and others.
He remarked, “Entrepreneurship is not just about starting a business; its about identifying needs in society and creatively addressing them to generate income and foster development.”
Dr. Vincent also l highlighted the multidimensional nature of poverty, emphasizing that it extends beyond mere lack of material resources to encompass a deficit in skills and opportunities.
“Poverty is not limited to material deprivation; it includes the inability to utilize ones skills effectively to meet societal needs.”
“Entrepreneurship empowers individuals to take control of their economic destinies, create employment opportunities, and contribute to community development.”

Furthermore, Dr. Vincent stressed the importance of ongoing skill acquisition, noting that it enables individuals to adapt to changing market demands and seize emerging opportunities. He remarked, “Skill acquisition is a lifelong process that equips individuals with the tools they need to thrive in dynamic economic environments.”
Dr. Vincent therefore urged youths to embrace entrepreneurship as a pathway to economic empowerment and social change. He stated, “We must harness our creativity and ingenuity to transform ideas into action, thereby making a tangible difference in our communities.”
Also speaking, Mr Anthony Sani, call for unity and proactive measures from the political class to address pressing social issues such as child labour, early marriage, and poverty, particularly in the northern region, underscores the urgent need for concerted action.
These challenges not only deprive children of their fundamental rights but also hinder their ability to access education and secure a better future. By advocating for political unity and a proactive approach, Mr. Sani emphasizes the importance of prioritizing the well-being and development of vulnerable populations, especially children and young girls who are disproportionately affected by these issues.
Furthermore, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Mr Shehu Nadadas emphasis on security tips during the summit highlights the critical role of youth in maintaining peace and stability within their communities.
His call to shun drug abuse and resist being manipulated into causing unrest resonates with the need for responsible citizenship and social cohesion. By addressing these issues head-on, Mr. Nadada aims to empower young people to make informed choices and contribute positively to society, thereby fostering a safer and more inclusive environment for all.
