PDP Chairman Kidnapped in Lagos, Kidnappers Demand N200m Ransom
Mr. Philip Aivoji, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, has been reported as abducted, according to recent updates.
The incident occurred on Thursday, January 25, around 6 p.m. along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, as confirmed by Hon. Hakeem Amode, the party's state publicity secretary. Amode expressed deep concern over the prevalent issue of kidnapping in the country, emphasizing the urgent need for decisive actions by the government to address the menace.
Aivoji's kidnapping took place shortly after he attended a stakeholder meeting organized by Governors Seyi Makinde and Ademola Adeleke in Oyo State. His current whereabouts and any communication from the abductors remain unknown.
Amode urged security agencies and governmental bodies at all levels to intervene swiftly to ensure Aivoji's freedom. He specifically called on the governments of Oyo, Ogun, and Lagos States, along with security agencies, to expedite efforts in securing his safe return to his family and well-wishers.
In a distressing turn of events, the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N200 million for the release of the PDP chairman. This information was disclosed by an anonymous member of the party, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
