Niger State Government to Address Viral Debate Video
The government of Niger State has declared its commitment to investigate and impose suitable disciplinary measures against the teacher and principal of a school whose student gained attention in a viral video criticizing Nigerian leaders.
The widely circulated video showcased AbdulKabir AbdulKadir, a student from Kasim Primary School in Agaie, expressing discontent with the nation's current state during a debate. The student, voicing his opposition to compulsory voting, raised concerns about the diminishing significance of citizens' votes, attributing it to corrupt leadership.
In response to the video, the Niger State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, through its spokesperson, Jibrin Usman-Kodo, issued a statement expressing disapproval. The government expressed concern over the student's use of "vulgar and violent language" during his presentation.
The statement revealed that the government found the video's content disturbing, suggesting that the student had been coached to employ aggressive language. The Commissioner of the ministry has pledged to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and to take appropriate disciplinary actions against those responsible for instructing the student to use such language.
