Tinubu Returns to Abuja Amid Rising Protests Over Economic Hardship
Nigeria's President, Bola Tinubu, has returned to Abuja after attending the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union Heads of State and Government. The president, who departed Abuja on February 14 for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, participated in the Summit.
Five days after his departure, Tinubu arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at approximately 04:00 pm local time on Monday. He was welcomed by top government officials, including Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and Minister of State for Defense Bello Matawalle.
Tinubu's return coincides with protests erupting in various parts of the country due to the prevailing economic hardship faced by citizens. Angry Nigerians have blocked major roads in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, and Otukpo, Benue State, demanding urgent action from the Federal Government to address the challenges.
