AFCON 2023: Troost-Ekong Excited to Rejoin Super Eagles
William Troost-Ekong expresses joy at reuniting with the Super Eagles after a four-month hiatus. The PAOK Salonica player, absent from head coach Jose Peseiro's call-ups since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe in September, has made a return to Nigeria's squad for the 2023 AFCON finals.
Joining his teammates at the training base in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Troost-Ekong, the 29-year-old centre-back, shared his happiness about being back in camp. Taking to his X account, he stated, "Honoured to be back with the team for another AFCON. Let's get to work."
This marks Troost-Ekong's second AFCON appearance, following his debut in the 2019 competition in Egypt, where Nigeria secured a third-place finish.
